Washington Examiner columnist Guy Benson said that Democrats and blue cities are soft on crime and struggling to contain violence on Fox News’s Hannity on Thursday.
“District attorneys and prosecutors who are anti-prosecution and pro-criminal — it’s a very bad combination,” Benson said. He continued, “Public disorder is a policy choice.”
Benson said that mayors in cities like Seattle and New York City “have deep sympathy to offenders.”
He described these criminals as repeat offenders who have a long history with law enforcement, and called on prosecutors, saying, “It’s a revolving door, in and out, and they call this progress.”
Benson referenced Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser. “She has been so much less bad than what the alternative might be.”
Benson said Bowser has realized that people actually want order restored, and helped navigate President Donald Trump’s federal takeover of the district. He noted that she is not running for reelection, and what comes next could be problematic.

“Can you get worse? You sure can,” he said.
“Elections have consequences.”
