Florida is right to go after the NFL’s racist and useless Rooney Rule

.

Florida is going after the NFL’s Rooney Rule for being racially discriminatory. It is past time that the league dumps the rule and stops pandering to racial obsessives in the media.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier warned the NFL that failure to suspend the Rooney Rule “may result in enforcement actions against the league for race-based discrimination.” The Rooney Rule forces NFL teams to interview candidates from minority groups for multiple staff positions, including head coach and general manager openings.

IF UNIVERSITIES HAVE STOPPED RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, WHY SUE TO BLOCK OVERSIGHT?

The NFL’s racial promotion rules have also been recently changed to actively encourage discrimination. Under the new rules, a team that has a black offensive coordinator (for example) who gets hired away to be the head coach for another team will receive draft picks. The NFL is encouraging teams to promote black and other candidates from minority groups to these positions to set them up for promotions, which means NFL teams actually have an incentive to discriminate against white coaches for staff positions.

All of this is based on the idea that, here in the modern day, NFL teams are discriminating in hiring, despite NFL coaching staffs being more diverse than they have ever been. Sports media throws tantrums if black head coaches are fired and replaced by white coaches.

But there are only 32 NFL head coaching positions, which is far too small a sample size from which to draw any real conclusions. The New York Giants alone, for example, have 31 coaches on staff. In 2025, there was a record six black head coaches, not to mention Mike McDaniel (biracial). Now, there are three plus Saleh, with nine of the 10 head coach openings in the 2026 cycle going to white coaches.

NEA’S HYPER-FIXATION ON RACE SHOWS FIGHT AGAINST ‘WOKE’ INDOCTRINATION IS NOT OVER

Did the NFL suddenly go from woke to racist over the span of a year? Did the Rooney Rule go from a powerful force in 2025 to a dead letter in 2026? Or, is it that 32 head coaching positions in a league with hundreds upon hundreds of coaches and staff is a small sample size, with each head coach opening being decided by myriad factors that are far more important than skin color?

The NFL is encouraging real, institutionalized racism in order to treat a fake racism that has been fabricated by race-obsessed media who want to see every head coaching opening go to a black coach. The Rooney Rule and the accompanying racial hiring rules are as racist as they are pointless, and they should be axed as soon as possible.
