A New Hampshire man has been charged in federal court for the assault and attempted murder of a Border Patrol agent stationed at the state’s border with Canada, according to a criminal complaint reviewed by the Washington Examiner.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Hampshire charged Blu Zeke Daly, also known as Cullan Zeke Daly, after he opened fire on a federal law enforcement agent at a remotely located border crossing in Pittsburg, NH.
The complaint states that while on patrol near Stewartstown, NH, on Saturday evening, a Border Patrol agent encountered Daly, 26, alone in his car. During a conversation, the agent asked Daly, a Manchester resident, whether he went by any aliases other than those he had provided.
Daly suddenly attempted to flee in his vehicle, and the agent pursued Daly at a distance. Daly drove roughly 13 miles along the U.S.-Canada border until he arrived early Sunday morning at the Pittsburg Port of Entry, which was closed to vehicles attempting to cross into Canada.
The Border Patrol agent turned on his vehicle’s emergency lights and stepped out of the vehicle to approach Daly when Daly began to turn away. Daly immediately fired a handgun at the agent.
The agent returned fire and struck Daly, who was taken into custody and remains hospitalized.
Given the Border Patrol’s use of force, the FBI is handling the investigation into the shooting, and Assistant U.S. Attorney Alexander S. Chen is prosecuting the case.
Use-of-force incidents involving a firearm are rare, particularly among agents on the U.S.-Canada border. Border Patrol agent David Maland was killed in January 2025 during a highway shoot-out between members of a cult-like organization known as the Zizians that resulted from a traffic stop he made in Vermont.

He faces up to 40 years in prison and $500,000 in fines if convicted of the combined charges.
