President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump will have several notable guests at the president’s State of the Union address on Tuesday night.
These guests are meant to highlight key issues that are important to the first couple and that Trump will likely discuss during his speech.
Trump is expected to address key issues, including the economy, illegal immigration, and the partial shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt teased to reporters earlier on Tuesday.
Here are the guests who are attending as guests of Trump:
Erika Kirk
Erika Kirk, the widow of Charlie Kirk, will be in the chamber watching the address as a guest of the president, Leavitt confirmed. Trump is expected to denounce political violence after the Turning Point USA co-founder was assassinated last September while speaking at Utah Valley University.
Sage Blair
Sage Blair, a young woman whose mother sued a Virginia school district alleging it secretly facilitated her child’s gender transition, will attend the event as a guest of Trump, a White House official confirmed to the Washington Examiner. Her mother, Michele Blair, will also attend Tuesday night. The president is expected to call on states to ban sex transition operations for minors.
Sierra Burns
Sierra Burns, a 10-year-old Alpha School student, will attend the State of the Union as a guest of the first lady, the White House announced. Burns was a participant in the Melania Trump Foster Youth to Independence Program.
Everest Nevraumont
Everest Nevraumont, a 10-year-old artificial intelligence advocate and student at the Alpha School in Austin, Texas, is attending the event as a guest of the first lady. “Sierra and Everest embody my ongoing mission to uplift America’s foster youth and expand opportunity for our next generation through education and technology,” said Melania Trump in a statement.
“I am proud to have them join me at this historic event. Sierra and Everest represent the young people across America whose personal experience, drive, and self-motivation reflect the goals of my BE BEST Fostering the Future initiatives,” she added.
US men’s hockey
The president extended an invitation to the U.S. men’s hockey team, which just won the Olympic gold medal against Canada on Sunday in a 2-1 victory, to the State of the Union address.
PROMISES TRUMP HAS KEPT, OR NOT KEPT, FROM HIS 2025 JOINT SESSION OF CONGRESS SPEECH
It’s unclear how many members will be going to the address; however, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) told reporters Tuesday the lower chamber was working out “logistics” regarding their attendance.
“The State of the Union is a very well-attended event, and the gallery is already full, and we have waiting lists of people that want to be there,” Johnson said. “So, we’re going to work out logistics, and somehow, some way, we’ll squeeze in the hockey players tonight, and it’ll be a great moment for America, and it really is a symbol to all of us that we all play for America’s team.”
