The View cohost Whoopi Goldberg addressed her name appearing in documents connected to the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, firmly pushing back on any suggestion that the mention implied wrongdoing.
Speaking during the opening “Hot Topics” segment on the View, Goldberg clarified that while her name appeared in the Epstein files released by the Department of Justice, the context of that mention had nothing to do with a personal relationship or association with Epstein.

At the start of the discussion, Goldberg asked producers to display the specific email referenced in the documents. The message, she explained, concerned possible travel arrangements to Monaco for a charity event connected to Julian Lennon. According to Goldberg, the email suggested that a private plane might be offered for the trip, but she emphasized that the offer was declined, and she never flew on Epstein’s aircraft.
“Anybody — well, this is my point,” Goldberg said. “Because I’m telling you, when I tell you people are trying to turn me into — I wasn’t his girlfriend. I wasn’t his friend.”
Goldberg stressed that appearing in documents does not equal guilt, nor does it prove a personal connection. She said critics were misrepresenting the situation and drawing conclusions that simply were not supported by facts.
Her comments come after the View has covered the Epstein files repeatedly, especially regarding President Donald Trump’s name appearing in the files hundreds of times.
A 2019 FBI report said that Trump called a Palm Beach police chief in 2006 to thank him for “stopping” Epstein after Epstein’s crimes became public. Trump has maintained that he ended his friendship with Epstein long before the investigation, insisting he distanced himself before the case became widely known
However, it has remained a political issue that has been talked about on the View extensively.
Goldberg said much of her personal life has long been public knowledge.
“Every man that I’ve ever been with, you’ve known about it,” she said, adding that there had never been any secret relationship to uncover.
