Law enforcement detained a person of interest on Tuesday in connection with the kidnapping of Nancy Guthrie, the mother of Today show co-host Savannah Guthrie.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department confirmed the detainment in an X post on Tuesday night, writing, “Earlier today, Pima County Sheriff’s Department deputies detained a subject during a traffic stop south of Tucson. The subject is currently being questioned in connection to the Nancy Guthrie investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.”

The Pima County Sheriff’s Department and the FBI have been working on the case for over a week after Nancy Guthrie disappeared from her Arizona home on Feb. 1. The Tuesday night development in the case comes hours after the release of doorbell camera footage of a possible suspect in the disappearance.
