Jill Biden’s ex-husband William Stevenson charged with killing wife

Former first lady Jill Biden‘s ex-husband has been arrested and charged with murder in the first degree, according to a police report released this week.

William Stevenson, 77, is accused of murdering his wife, Linda Stevenson, 64, following a weekslong investigation, and was indicted by a grand jury on Monday, according to the New Castle County police.

Stevenson was found unresponsive on Dec. 28, 2025, after police “responded to a reported domestic dispute,” according to a press release. She was afterward pronounced dead. An obituary of Stevenson said she “passed away unexpectedly,” and makes no mention of her husband.

Williams Stevenson was previously married to Biden before she married former President Joe Biden.

The ex-husband is imprisoned at the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000 cash bail.

The Washington Examiner has reached out to a spokesperson for the Bidens for comment.

This is a developing story.
