President Donald Trump is threatening to save the United Nations with an infusion of billions of American taxpayer dollars. The true “America First” solution would be to let the institution die.
The U.N. is facing “imminent financial collapse,” according to Secretary-General Antonio Guterrez, over unpaid “mandatory” dues from member countries. The United States is one of the countries that has not paid its dues, owing just under $2.2 billion in yearly dues and another $1.8 billion for peacekeeping funds.

Trump is now saying he wants the U.N. to get however much money it needs. The president said he would “solve the problem very easily” if the U.N. just asked him to, and that “All I have to do is call these countries … they would send checks within minutes.” He also insisted that “The U.N. is not leaving New York, and it’s not leaving the United States, because the U.N. has tremendous potential.”
The U.N. has no potential whatsoever. It is entirely corrupted by money-hungry bureaucrats who empower the world’s worst countries in U.N. agencies. Most recently, it has sat by and watched as Iran massacred thousands of civilians, even as the country sits on the U.N. Human Rights Council. This comes just after the U.N. orchestrated an emergency meeting in New York to condemn Trump and the U.S. over the arrest of former Venezuelan dictator Nicholas Maduro.

So, why should billions of American taxpayer dollars be funneled to the U.N.? The United Nations prioritizes condemning the U.S. and American interests, funnels billions to Palestinian terrorists, and allows its agencies, such as the World Health Organization, to be corrupted by Chinese influence. Why should U.S. taxpayers be paying for an America-hating organization to empower Chinese communists and Islamic terrorists around the world?
If the U.N. is on the verge of going broke, then Trump should let it die. The United Nations contributes nothing to global freedom, global prosperity, or U.S. interests. It is a leech that has proven that it cannot function without American taxpayers propping it up, and Trump should not be asking the public to spend another penny on behalf of this globalist, anti-American sham organization.
