Democratic members of the House Homeland Security Committee are holding a press conference on Wednesday afternoon on the Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Good in Minnesota.
The presser will be led by Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-MS), ranking member of the committee, and Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), a Somali-born lawmaker who has been extremely vocal about the Trump administration’s immigration agenda since last week’s shooting. Omar is not a member of the House Homeland Security Committee, but an unspecified number of Democrats from the panel will join.

“Renee Good was an upstanding – and loved – member of her community and her tragic death at the hands of Kristi Noem’s secret police one week ago shows the American people how out of control this administration is,” Thompson said in a statement. “Americans agree that the ICE officer responsible for her death must face justice — but they also expect accountability from the top. Those who empowered ICE to terrorize our cities — including Kristi Noem — must be held accountable and face consequences.”
The press conference is scheduled to start at 1 p.m. on Wednesday outside the Capitol in Washington.
