Washington Examiner investigations editor Sarah Bedford largely dismissed comedian Rosie O’Donnell’s concerns about President Donald Trump, citing how this strongly contrasts with the lack of concern the last president received.
O’Donnell, a longtime critic of Trump before he entered the White House, said on TikTok that the president is making “crazy posts like someone with temporal, frontal lobe dementia,” and asked, “When are they going to do the 25th Amendment?” The 25th Amendment addresses presidential vacancies and provides for the vice president to assume the presidency in the event of the president’s death or resignation.
However, Bedford deemed O’Donnell’s call for the 25th Amendment “laughable on its face.”
“It’s kind of beyond parody that people who didn’t really have a problem with the fact that Trump’s predecessor could barely make it up a flight of stairs, could barely conjugate a sentence, we did not hear any 25th Amendment concerns there, but all of a sudden, they have sort of murder boards about Trump having discoloration on his hand one day and rambling another day. News flash: Donald Trump loves to ramble, it’s part of his rhetorical style,” Bedford said on Fox News’s The Ingraham Angle, guest-hosted by Joey Jones.
Bedford added that calls for the 25th Amendment are mostly not part of the “mainstream Democratic rhetoric,” but O’Donnell is partaking in the “outrage machine” against the president. She added that this prevents the Democratic Party from “taking sensible stances” and finding common ground with swing voters.
Former President Joe Biden faced renewed calls for the 25th Amendment after the first presidential debate in 2024, during which Biden was greatly criticized for his performance. Biden did not resign from office, but he suspended his reelection bid a little more than three weeks after the debate.
While O’Donnell has continued her criticism of Trump, musician Nicki Minaj has recently offered praise for the Trump administration and its opposition to Christian persecution in Nigeria. Minaj’s support has drawn criticism from fellow musician Lizzo. However, Bedford contended that “no one is impressed anymore” by yet another celebrity opposing Trump, whereas Minaj’s praise is “such a fascinating case.”

“There’s a lot of value in being the first in this sort of uncharted territory, though, and for my generation, she sang a lot of my college anthems,” Bedford said. “It’s really interesting to see conservatism reflected in someone from that pop culture era. She’s the only one, and there’s a lot of room for her in that sort of ideological space.”
Model Amber Rose, a friend of Minaj, voiced her support for the musician for attending Turning Point USA’s AmericaFest last week, saying Minaj has “the right to her own political opinion.”
