Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray is launching his bid for his state’s House seat.
Rep. Harriet Hageman (R-WY) is running for U.S. Senate in the state. Gray ran for House in 2022 but ceded to Hageman after she received President Donald Trump’s endorsement, and he chose a successful statewide bid instead.
“I’m running for Congress to continue fighting for Wyoming’s way of life,” Gray told the Washington Examiner in a statement.
“With Congresswoman Harriet Hageman running for U.S. Senate, Wyoming needs a representative who will build on her strong record, advance our shared Wyoming values, and advance the Trump agenda that has delivered the largest margin of victory in the nation in three straight presidential elections,” he added.
Gray’s announcement video says he is “Wyoming tough” and “America First.” He also says he will treat drug smugglers “like terrorists,” deny liberals their “woke wind projects,” keep biological males out of female sports, and deport “every single” illegal immigrant.
The Wyoming conservative could be on a fast track to the nomination for Hageman’s House seat if he receives Trump’s endorsement, as he did in his 2022 statewide campaign. A July polling memo shared with the Washington Examiner by his campaign showed he had the most name recognition of any Republican in a select field and had the most support.
He beat out other possible candidates, including state Sen. Tara Nethercott and state Treasurer Curt Meier.
Gray is the only notable Wyoming Republican to declare a campaign for the state’s House seat. If he receives the nomination, he is likely to win. No Democrat has represented Wyoming in the House since 1978.
Gray also touted passing voter ID laws, election integrity policy, and other election security rules in his campaign release. He also said he is the “only secretary of state in America” to submit an amicus brief to the Supreme Court in support of Trump, and filed an amicus brief with the Colorado Supreme Court in 2023 to prevent Trump from being removed from the ballot.

“When political insiders abandoned President Trump, I didn’t flinch,” Gray said. “I stood with the president and the American people, because in this country, voters decide elections — not radical leftist attorneys.”
Before becoming Wyoming’s secretary of state in 2022, Gray served three terms in the state House of Representatives.
