EXCLUSIVE — Dr. Marc Siegel was motivated by his centenarian parents to pen his book about medical miracles, The Miracles Among Us: How God’s Grace Plays a Role in Healing.
“I noticed that they navigated near misses over time that were oftentimes guided by amazing medicine or coincidence or faith,” Siegel told The Washington Examiner.
Siegel, a Fox News senior medical analyst and practicing physician, has met several doctors and patients alike who had stories of miraculous healing. He met one subject of his book, a veteran who healed from mental trauma, during the Bush Center’s Warrior 100K mountain bike ride in 2012. Another subject, a physician performing successful surgeries without experience, was introduced to Siegel at a Shabbat dinner in 2023.
“True healers see that life itself is a major miracle,” Siegel said.
Once the idea of the book became clearer to Siegel, he solicited stories of miracles from doctors. Another subject, Dr. Ellay Hogeg-Golan, was brought to Siegel’s attention upon surveying Sheba Medical Center in Israel. Hogeg-Golan is a physician whose family was attacked by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, but survived.
“I think this book is really coming at the right time — a time where we need hope and prayer and coming together,” Siegel said. “It’s not a chapter about whether you’re a Democrat or Republican, whether you believe in this or that, it’s a book about healing and spiritual overcoming.”
Each chapter of The Miracles Among Us contains more than one miracle, as they often come to people who are in what Siegel refers to as a “miracle lane.”
“I’m inspired by miracles that accrue. Miracles that are not flashes of light from the sky, but are an accruing of coincidences that God is determining and that we pray for,” Siegel said. “The miracle isn’t where you’re expecting it.”
“This is another reason I wrote the book: I think that technology has advanced to the point where it’s no longer either science or faith, either science or healing, either science or caring, either science or hope,” Siegel said. “The technology has become so advanced it will get even more, so that I think it’s liberating, healing actually.”
FOX NEWS TO RELEASE BOOK DISCUSSING FAITH AND MEDICAL HEALING
While the book centers on faith, it includes anecdotes from a variety of religious beliefs, or no beliefs. In the end, Siegel insists the book is for “everybody.”
Fox News Books, which launched in 2020, has sold 3.5 million copies across 16 different titles.
The Miracles Among Us will be the publisher’s 17th release and will be available on Nov. 18 via the Fox News Books website, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Target, and Walmart.
