“Grown men with big d***s … in the women’s locker room!”
That’s what singer Tish Hyman yelled about during an argument at Gold’s Gym in Los Angeles, in a video that has since made national news. Footage of Hyman confronting gym employees and a biological male who identifies as a transgender woman named Alexis Black has gone viral and sparked furious debate online.
Hyman’s complaint is simple. She felt uncomfortable that Black and other biological males who identify as transgender had observed her naked in the Gold’s Gym women’s locker room and didn’t understand why people with male genitalia were allowed in. Black, in response, argued that Black was “registered as female with gym,” touted Black’s own “self-feminine power,” and dismissed Hyman’s concerns as “fearmongering.” Notably, Black doesn’t appear at all feminine and has been taking hormones for less than a year.
Most people online sided with Hyman in the initial dispute. But then, disturbing revelations about Black’s past came out that not only bolster Hyman’s concerns but also reveal the utter lunacy of Democratic gender policies.
As it turns out, Black has a dark criminal past. According to the New York Post’s reporting, “Black, formerly Grant Freeman, pleaded guilty in 2022 to savagely beating his wife Alexis Freeman, causing a compound fractured jaw among other serious injuries.” Black then later took on the Alexis name as part of his transgender persona. And that’s not all. “Black had been convicted of both domestic violence and drug trafficking in the past, and has faced a slew of other charges, including resisting arrest, records show,” the New York Post further reports.
That’s right: The person making women uncomfortable in the gym locker room is also reportedly a convicted domestic abuser who beat women. But what’s actually insane is that California law quite literally entitles Black to use the women’s locker room, Black’s criminal past and the obvious threat Black poses to women be damned. So don’t get too angry at Gold’s Gym, it’s not really its fault!
According to the American Civil Liberties Union of Southern California, “Under the Unruh Civil Rights Act … people who are transgender or nonbinary have the right to full and equal participation in a gym or spa experience, including access to locker rooms and other spaces based on their gender identity.”
Legally speaking, this is entirely up to a person’s self-identification. In fact, the ACLU says that California law prohibits businesses from requiring a “driver’s license, birth certificate, court order, medical record, or other identification to access gender-segregated facilities or amenities.”
Yup: Anybody who simply declares themselves a woman or even nonbinary is entitled to walk into a women’s locker room at their whim, under California state law. And that law doesn’t even include exceptions or prohibitions for convicted criminals!
What could possibly go wrong?
Well, just ask Hyman and the other women like her who’ve suffered because of the legal erosion of women’s rights in the name of “progressive” social policy.

Of course, the vast majority of transgender people with gender dysphoria are no threat to anyone. But these self-ID policies open the door to predators and make it easy for them to legally prey upon women — in fact, they secure their right to do so as a matter of civil rights law!
Most people now see that transgender activism went much, much too far. That’s why even the likes of Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) are signalling a desire to moderate on some related issues, such as allowing biological males to compete in women’s sports. But we can’t let them escape responsibility for the real harm their extremist policies have done.
