Multiple people injured after stabbing attack on train in England

At least 10 people were injured in a stabbing attack on a train in England Saturday night.

British Transport Police responded to reports of a mass stabbing aboard a train bound for London at around 7:30 p.m. local time. Police said at the time that “multiple people” were stabbed on the train, which was stopped at Huntingdon Station, near Cambridge.

Armed police officers arrested two suspects at the scene shortly after, whose identities have not been disclosed. Of the 10 passengers injured in the attack, nine are suffering from life-threatening injuries.

Witnesses described a chaotic scene, with passengers trampling over each other and hiding in bathrooms during the attack. One witness also told the Times that there was “blood everywhere,” and recalled seeing at least one man with a large knife.

U.K. officials were quick to weigh in on the incident, with Prime Minister Keir Starmer calling it “appalling” and “deeply concerning.”

“My thoughts are with all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services for their response,” he added.
