Moms for Liberty continues its noble quest to protect kids from dangerous ideologies

.

Moms for Liberty has undoubtedly left its mark on U.S. culture over the last few years. The organization, comprised of mothers (and fathers) seeking to protect their children from radical left-wing extremist ideologies and practices, has forged a national cultural shift, exposing fraught educational curricula and radical left-wing brainwashing practices in schools throughout the country. Instead of being educated, the country’s children were being indoctrinated. The work of Moms for Liberty helped uncover this harrowing reality.

President Donald Trump’s election victory in 2024 helped advance many of the efforts Moms for Liberty was fighting for, most notably radical gender ideology in schools and boys who claim they are girls competing in female sports. Radicalized educators and government officials implemented these dangerous and toxic agendas in schools nationwide under the guise of equality. These policies plagued the nation during the entire term of President Joe Biden. And every day, somewhere in the country, the mothers of this great organization were fighting against it. They were the front-line heroes of the country’s culture war.

Trump’s victory brought up a brief respite against left-wing cultural and social justice dragoons, but the battle continues. Last weekend, these “joyful warriors” gathered again, at a summit in Orlando, Florida. It was a rallying of the troops and an esprit de corps of arguably the greatest political parents’ organization of the 21st century. Yet, despite the recent wins, these mothers know there is still work to be done, for complacency is the enemy of progress.

“The fight continues,” Moms for Liberty cofounder Tina Descovich told me. “From securing victories at the Supreme Court to pushing back against rogue school boards like those in Northern Virginia, the fight for parental rights and commonsense education policies is more important than ever.”

The summit was a homecoming of sorts for Moms for Liberty, as the organization was founded and held its first summit in Florida.

“Yes, we’re returning to where our movement began,” Descovich said. “Stronger and more united than ever before.”

Mothers, fathers, and even childless adults gathered for “three days of training, strategizing, and building relationships while celebrating the bright future of the greatest country in the world, America.”  The event featured a myriad of speakers, including Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL), Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL), Florida Lieutenant Gov. Jay Collins,  investigative journalist James O’Keefe, and numerous activists and social media influencers. An integral topic among the lecturers was protecting children from radical left-wing indoctrination in schools.

Lydia Shaffer, a content creator known as “Conservative Barbie,” was one of the speakers at the summit. She was most passionate about school safety.

“Nothing else matters if our kids don’t come home at the end of the day. That’s why I’ve been in conversation with Virginia Legislators about school safety initiatives, including the need for metal detectors and commonsense protections. Parents are told to trust the system, but trust doesn’t save lives, action does.”

“We don’t get a second chance at this,” she added. “Every day we delay, another parent risks receiving the call that changes their life forever.”

As a first-time attendee of a Moms for Liberty summit, Shaffer described it as a surreal moment in which she witnessed firsthand who the moms “really are.”

“This was actually my very first Moms for Liberty conference. I had never been before,” she said. “Walking into that room and seeing thousands of parents from across the country stand boldly for their children was life-changing. I’ve watched from the outside as this group has been smeared, attacked, and called extremists simply for speaking up, and I wanted to see for myself who they really are. What I saw was courage, conviction, and moms who refuse to let fear or political pressure silence them.”

It was a sentiment echoed by Descovich. She expressed satisfaction over the progress of Moms for Liberty in just four years. It has grown to over 300 chapters with over 130,000 members. It is a stunning amount of progress in a short period of time. More importantly, as the group grows, so do their accomplishments and influence in American culture and society. It’s a much-needed reinforcement given the decadeslong head start liberals, Democrats, and others on the Left have had on the public school indoctrination system in the country.

“Our crowning achievement has been empowering moms and dads across the country to make an impact on local, state, and federal policies,” Descovich told me. “As parents have woken up to what is happening in classrooms, Moms for Liberty has been there every step of the way to ensure their voices are heard and our children are protected.”

The left-wing disdain for Moms for Liberty is well known, yet it is also undeserved. The organization threatens the existence of neo-Marxist ideologies in the U.S. public education system. Its success jeopardizes the Left’s ideological monopoly on shaping the minds of the youth and future generations.

Moms for Liberty fights for parents’ rights, good education, accountability, transparency, and security on a daily basis. Yet, despite these benevolent objectives, the group regularly gets vilified. No other parent organization has to encounter such vitriolic hatred on a daily basis. Nevertheless, they persist.

Moreover, as the summit ended, the mothers in attendance were more energized and invigorated than ever. They are keenly aware of the challenges. They are ready and willing to continue engaging ideological opponents and agenda-driven education bureaucrats to ensure the safety and welfare of their children and the nation’s youth.

“Parents are the real Department of Homeland Security when it comes to our kids,” Shaffer said. “It’s time our school systems and lawmakers caught up to that reality.”
