Trump rips Fox News over Mark Kelly interview, tells network ‘get on board’

President Donald Trump attacked Fox News and its White House correspondent, Peter Doocy, for hosting Sen. Mark Kelly (D-AZ) for an interview about the government shutdown, telling the TV network to “get on board” with Republican messaging.

Kelly appeared on Fox News Sunday in a one-on-one in-studio interview about the cause and impact of the government shutdown, which is now in its fifth day since the Senate failed to pass a short-term spending bill.

Kelly blamed Republicans for the shutdown and claimed that not their doing so had put countless people in grave danger.

“Millions of people will lose their healthcare or go bankrupt. When people lose their healthcare, they die. That is the reality of the situation that we’re in,” Kelly said in the interview.

An irritated Trump took issue with Fox News giving Kelly a chance to speak “unabated or challenged” on healthcare, the issue that has been at the center of the shutdown.

“Why is FoxNews and Peter Doocy putting on Democrat Senator Mark Kelly to talk about, totally unabated or challenged, Healthcare? The FAKE SPIN is so bad for Republicans that it is hard to believe that we WIN,” Trump said in a post to Truth Social on Sunday. “It will be very unfair, in the future, when they don’t have ‘TRUMP’ to fight for them. Therefore, we should fix it, NOW!

“I’m watching this Interview. It just doesn’t end. Fox should either get on board, or get off board, NOW, but at this point, it just doesn’t make any difference to me. They suck up the Ratings because of us, and then spin them in the Democrats’ direction,” Trump continued.

The latest Fox News polling, released in mid-September, revealed that 46% of voters approved of Trump’s job in office, compared to 54% who disapproved.

Trump also took issue with Fox’s polling and called the newsroom’s surveyors “one of the worst” in the business

“They refuse to put up Polls that correctly show me at 65% in Popularity, a Republican RECORD, but if I have a fake bad ‘Poll,’ many of which are done by Fox (One of the worst ‘Pollsters’ out there is the FoxNews Poll), they put them up immediately, and with gusto,” Trump wrote in the same post Sunday. “Republicans are so tired of this fight with Fox always trying to be so ‘politically correct!’”
