Democrats have routinely championed themselves as advocates of Ukraine, women, refugees, immigrants, and female victims of male violence. Given this activism, one would think an incident that checked all these boxes would have the utmost support from Democrats. However, the killing of Iryna Zarutska, a 23-year-old Ukrainian refugee, by a man on a train in Charlotte on Aug. 22 has left the usual vociferous Democrats conspicuously quiet.
How many Democrats have traveled to North Carolina to meet Zarutska’s family? Moreover, how many of them have expressed an interest or desire to do so? How many of them have even bothered to extend sympathies to her family? Based on all available information, the answer is none.
Zarutska lived with her mother, sister, and brother in Huntersville, North Carolina, in the Charlotte metropolitan area. According to reports, she had recently moved in with her boyfriend. It’s a much shorter trip from Washington, D.C., to Charlotte than El Salvador. Yet, not one Democrat has bothered to make the trip.
Moreover, consider Democrats’ activism in recent years. They have been passionate supporters of Ukraine in its conflict with Russia, held women’s marches, routinely promoted female empowerment, and led political crusades for instances of male violence against women. Regarding immigrants, Democrats are such ardent supporters that they regularly support any person who is not a U.S. citizen (even “Maryland fathers” with extensive criminal histories). So, when Zarutska was brutally killed by a man on a train, logic suggested Democrats would lead the charge for justice.
But sadly, nothing could be further from the truth.
WE MET IRYNA ZARUTSKA’S MURDER WITH TERRIFYING INDIFFERENCE
Compare this to how Democrats treated Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a man with a violent criminal history and suspected of human trafficking. Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) did everything possible to ensure Garcia’s welfare. Recall the attention, public statements, media appearances, publicity, and other virtue-signaling efforts Van Hollen engaged in regarding Garcia. He flew to a foreign country on the taxpayer’s dime to visit him. He visited Garcia’s family. He went above and beyond his duties as an elected official to comfort Garcia in every way possible. But in the wake of Zarutska’s death, he has said little, if anything.
Other Democrats in Congress, such as Sen. Cory Booker (D-NJ) and Reps. Yassamin Ansari (D-AZ), Maxine Dexter (D-OR), Maxwell Frost (D-FL), and Robert Garcia (D-CA), announced plans to visit Garcia in El Salvador. None of them has replicated that effort to visit Zarutska’s family in North Carolina. Democrats fight for the Ukrainians who are being killed overseas by Russians, but ignore Ukrainians being killed by lifelong criminals in the United States. They worry about someone suspected of human trafficking and accused of domestic violence, but remain silent over an innocent woman who was killed while coming home from work.
POLITICAL VIOLENCE ON THE RISE IN THE US: A TIMELINE OF KEY INCIDENTS
Putting criminals before innocent people is the modern-day way of the Democratic Party. It’s a despicable pattern that predates Zarutska’s tragic death. Democrats deceive and manipulate the public into thinking they are compassionate people who care about the welfare of victims and the downtrodden. However, they only care about tragedies they can exploit for political gain. For Democrats, showing sympathy or empathy toward an innocent white woman killed by a black man with a violent criminal history does not appeal to their voting base. It’s indicative of how toxic, radical, and fanatical Democrats in the country have become.
Zarutska is the latest woman to be killed due to the societal impact of radical policies that Democrats have supported. A left-wing activist judge put Zarutska’s killer on the streets instead of jail, where he belonged. Whether it is illegal immigration or criminal justice, Democrats keep failing to protect innocent people in the country. From Laken Riley to Rachel Morin, Zarutska joins a long list of young women killed in the U.S. whom Democrats ignore and whose lives they pretend never existed.
