If Democrats don’t handle campus antisemitism, Trump will

.

There has been more backlash from California Democrats toward universities for participating in Trump administration investigations of campus antisemitism than for rampant antisemitism on campus.

The University of California, Berkeley, has turned over several documents to the Trump administration as part of the antisemitism inquiry. Those records included the names of 160 students and staff members, which were sent to the Education Department so that it could examine how the university “handles complaints involving alleged incidents of antisemitism and/or discrimination.”

KATHY HOCHUL GIVES UP ON FIGHTING AGAINST ANTISEMITISM

This has, of course, ignited the white hot anger of California’s Democratic “resistance.” Gov. Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) team said that President Donald Trump “has weaponized the Department of Justice to punish California, crush free thinking, and kneecap the greatest public university system in the world.” Left-wing unions, an integral part of the California Democratic Party’s political operation, said Trump was resorting to “intimidation” and that the university was “choosing to kind of comply.” Left-wing university staff members cried that this would cause “significant harm, including chilled speech and association and, among non-citizens, heightened fear of detention and deportation.”

These reactions are far louder and more passionate than any in response to the disgusting acts of antisemitism that occurred at Berkeley in the past few years. Just for a few examples, Jewish students have been assaulted by “pro-Palestine” antisemites. Jewish students were forced to evacuate through underground tunnels after students disrupted an event featuring an Israeli lawyer. The “Free Palestine Camp” encampment compared Jews to Adolf Hitler, showcased swastikas and the word “Intifada” repeatedly, and, of course, featured Jewish students being assaulted.

Through all of that, Newsom has been afraid to be as straightforward and unequivocal in condemning these acts of antisemitism as his team is now of the university cooperating in an antisemitism investigation. It is clear that the same staff complaining now about the “significant harm” this investigation will cause created the environment that necessitated such an investigation in the first place.

HOW TEACHERS UNIONS DRIVE ANTISEMITISM IN SCHOOLS

The lesson here is clear: If you didn’t want a Trump administration inquiry into antisemitism on your college campuses, you shouldn’t have let antisemites take over your campus in the first place.

Once again, California Democrats and university professors care more about Trump’s reaction to a problem than to the initial problem itself. Antisemitic violence and hatred must be stamped out at universities, and if Democrats don’t want to do it, then they will have to deal with the fact that Trump will handle it instead.
