Authorities are giving an update on the manhunt for Charlie Kirk’s assassin after detaining a suspect.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m.
President Donald Trump was the first to announce the arrest in an appearance on Fox News Friday morning.
SUSPECT IN CHARLIE KIRK ASSASSINATION IS IN CUSTODY: TRUMP
“I think, with a high degree of certainty, we have him, in custody. Everyone did a great job,” Trump said.
The arrest comes after two previous false alarms — one suspect arrested moments after the assassination and another arrested hours later. Police soon released them after interrogation, and both are no longer considered suspects.
The suspect was able to evade capture for well over 24 hours after sniping Kirk from a rooftop at Utah Valley Campus. After murdering Kirk, he jumped off the roof and fled into a nearby neighborhood.
