Democrats would rather Ukraine bleed than Trump succeed

.

For Democrats and their legacy media allies, nothing on the planet is more evil than President Donald Trump. Not cancer. Not even climate change. Trump is not only the pinnacle of evil but also the root of all lesser evils, and they’ll oppose him relentlessly over any cause — even peace.

Monday’s summit at the White House with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and European leaders is only the latest example of this commitment to opposing everything Trump supports, even when it is obviously good. The war between Ukraine and Russia has raged since the early days of the Biden administration, causing well over 1 million casualties and costing the United States alone nearly $200 billion. And until two weeks ago, there appeared to be no end in sight.

To be sure, Trump’s efforts at peace have not been perfect and have not yielded the immediate results he promised on the campaign trail. To his credit, Trump acknowledged this on Monday, saying that he was mistaken for believing the war would be easy to solve. There have also been numerous missteps in Trump’s dealings with Russian President Vladimir Putin. As the Washington Examiner’s foreign affairs writer Tom Rogan wrote following the U.S.-Russia summit in Alaska, Trump appeared to have “been hoodwinked at the intersection of Putin’s KGB charm and his disingenuous dangle of opportunities beyond Ukraine,” and that Putin appeared to buy himself more time and flexibility to prosecute his endless war as he sees fit.

Still, Trump’s efforts present the first real sign of momentum toward peace since the onset of the conflict — and following Monday’s visit with the Europeans, it appears to be real and significant. For this alone, Trump deserves plaudits. As Finnish President Alexander Stubb said at the White House on Monday, “I think in the past two weeks, we’ve probably had more progress in ending this war than we have in the past 3 1/2 years.”

Despite this undeniably positive news, Democrats remain committed to opposing the president and any achievement he might score — even if that means rooting for the continuation of the bloodiest conflict in Europe since World War II.

Democrats’ obsession with opposing Trump is so blinding that they can’t help contradict themselves from one condemnation of Trump to the next.

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-CT) posted immediately following the summit on Monday that “so long as Trump refuses to support Ukraine militarily, there is no hope for meaningful peace talks. Even a third grader knows you need to negotiate from a position of strength, and Trump’s promise to abandon Ukraine — no matter how talks go — is diplomatic malpractice.”

This is an outright lie, of course. Trump has not promised to abandon Ukraine and has supported Ukraine militarily a great deal, whether by providing Javelin anti-tank missiles in his first term or Patriot air defense systems in his second. Murphy’s statement, like so many others from Democratic leaders concerning Trump’s role in Ukraine and his relationship with Putin, is completely divorced from the facts.

But that’s only the message coming out of one side of the Democratic mouth. On Monday evening’s edition of CNN NewsNight with Abby Phillip, liberal commentator Bakari Sellers railed against Trump’s apparent openness to putting U.S. troops in Ukraine to keep the peace, a complaint shared by many in the furthest reaches of the MAGA movement, including Vice President JD Vance and Steve Bannon.

“You have Donald Trump talking about winning a Nobel Peace Prize,” he said. “You know what’s the antithesis to peace? Our boys and girls going and fighting in Ukraine. That’s the antithesis to peace.”

So which is it, exactly? Is Trump secretly a Putin operative, installed in the White House to help the Russian president expand his territory? Or is he following Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC) on a path to World War III? Because it can’t be both.

TRUMP ARRANGES MEETING BETWEEN PUTIN AND ZELENSKY WITH TRILATERAL TO FOLLOW

Like former President Joe Biden at last year’s presidential debate, I don’t know what they’re saying, and I don’t think they know what they’re saying.

The entire nation, and indeed the entire world, should be united in the desire for peace in Ukraine following 3 1/2 catastrophic years of fighting. But Democrats and their legacy media allies remained trapped inside a vitriolic echo chamber, in which every development is seen through the lens of domestic political warfare. They’d rather the bloodshed continue than for Trump to be right — a dark X-ray into their soul.
