August Supplemental Security Income payments, worth up to $967, will go out to recipients in two weeks.
SSI payments are typically distributed at the start of every month to beneficiaries with limited income who are either blind, 65 and older, or have a qualifying disability.
The amount recipients receive varies based on several factors, including the number of people filing. Individuals, for instance, can receive up to $967; couples filing together can receive $1,450, and essential people providing necessary care to SSI recipients can receive up to $484.
SSI payments increased by 2.5% in January to keep pace with inflation.
In addition to the previous prerequisites for receiving SSI payments, recipients must also be either U.S. citizens or noncitizens in one of the alien classifications granted by the Department of Homeland Security.
