Waving and wearing Mexican flags, Democratic Party activists threw rocks and water bottles at federal agents as they executed a warrant to find illegal immigrants working at a marijuana farm 90 miles north of Los Angeles last week. When the tear gas had cleared, Immigration and Customs Enforcement announced that 10 children had been found working there, eight of them unaccompanied by an adult. Despite this, Democratic leaders were unrepentant for opposing the enforcement of federal immigration law.
“How many MS-13 gang members are waking up at 3 a.m. to pick strawberries?” Rep. Jimmy Gomez (D-CA) mocked President Donald Trump, unaware or uncaring that it was a marijuana farm that had been raided.
“Kids running from tear gas, crying on the phone because their mother was just taken from the fields,” Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said on X, linking to a video of the raid. Newsom was likewise unaware or didn’t care that the children were forced laborers.
“We’re looking for over 300,000 missing children,” White House “border czar” Tom Homan said in response to Newsom. “We’ve already found 10,000. This should be a non-partisan issue.. We’re rescuing thousands of children.”
Former President Joe Biden and his health and human services secretary, Xavier Becerra, took the opposite approach, releasing unaccompanied migrant children into the country. Becerra urged his staff to release them as fast as possible, ignoring the danger he was putting them in.
“If Henry Ford had seen this in his plants,” Becerra told HHS staff, “he would never have become famous and rich. This is not the way you do an assembly line.” Becerra could not release illegal immigrant children into the United States fast enough. Most of them ended up working illegally so they could pay off Mexican cartels who smuggled them to the border.
There were two marijuana farms raided in California this week, both owned by Glass House Farms, which calls itself one of the “fastest-growing vertically integrated cannabis companies in the United States”. Glass House Farms is growing so fast it doesn’t have time to pay its workers, at least that was what a class action lawsuit alleged last year. It is easy not to pay workers when they are in the country illegally, and even easier when they are children. Newsom and the Democratic Party are fine with all of this. Glass House Farms is a state-licensed marijuana farm.
Local television helicopters captured one activist firing what appears to be a pistol at federal law officers. The U.S. attorney for the Central District of California has offered a $50,000 reward for any information that leads to the conviction of the man with the gun. No elected Democrat has come forward to criticize the attempted murder of federal officials.

In poll after poll after poll, from CBS News, Marquette University, the New York Times, Fox News, and Reuters, 52% to 66% of voters support the deportation of all illegal immigrants. The federal agents serving valid warrants to arrest immigrants working illegally are doing the will of the public, reflected through both polling and, most importantly, the result of the 2024 presidential election.
Democrats scream “fascism“, but enforcement of immigration laws and child labor laws enjoys popular support.
