It’s a different White House under President Donald Trump, as evidenced by an unusual scene that played out during Friday’s press conference.
When a reporter noted that there were zero illegal border crossings in the last month, a cameraman in the back corner yelled out, “Trump 2028!”, turning heads across the Brady Press Briefing Room.
Trump seemed pleased, saying, “I like him!” and drawing laughter, while White House communications adviser Margo Martin clipped the incident and posted it on X.
However, not everyone seemed pleased. After the briefing ended, at least one reporter appeared to confront the man, a Lindell TV employee named Girish Gaur, for his actions.
Another reporter, Reuters correspondent Nandita Bose, complained that it was “another sad reminder that it’s become a stage for performance, not journalism.”
But Gaur, sporting a “USA” hat, was not ashamed.
“He is absolutely great,” Gaur told the Washington Examiner in a brief interview. “And he deserves to be running for 2028 and staying in the White House until 2032.”
Trump is term-limited and cannot seek a third term under the Constitution’s 22nd Amendment.
Gaur said he did not plan to yell ahead of time but got caught up in the moment. He brushed off the notion that he was acting out of line or interrupting the proceedings, pointing to the fact that Trump smiled in response.
“I don’t care. That was completely outrageous,” he said of the person who confronted him. “I can say anything, it’s a free country.”
Lindell TV also seemed proud of the moment, calling out “legacy media” for “melting down” over it.
The outlet is owned by Mike Lindell, a former Trump confidante known for his MyPillow commercials, who is teasing a run for governor of Minnesota.

The incident also reflects the changing nature of the briefing room in the second Trump administration.
The White House has taken control of the press pool rotation and teased altering the coveted assigned seats in the briefing room. While the latter hasn’t happened yet, the administration has approved dozens of new outlets for access to the executive mansion, filling the aisles with many MAGA-friendly reporters primed to get questions from Trump and press secretary Karoline Leavitt.
Leavitt said the administration is expanding access to the facility and should be celebrated for doing so.
“We view it as opening access to more outlets, more voices, more news journalists,” Leavitt said in April.
However, Eugene Daniels, then-president of the White House Correspondents Association, said some new outlets do not adhere to the same professional standards as those vetted by the WHCA.
TRUMP’S BRIEFING ROOM TAKEOVER REFLECTS THE EVOLUTION OF WHITE HOUSE CLASHES WITH PRESS
“We have quite a bit of our team, our reporters that are in [the pool],” he said. “But then we have people in there who are asking questions about the president’s weight, or whatever, like ‘is he skinny now?’ and those kinds of things are not what the American people expect from reporters who cover the most important office in the land.”
The Washington Examiner has contacted the WHCA for comment on the shouting cameraman.
