Inside Scoop: LA riots, it’s not Sanders’s Vermont anymore, faith in the White House

.

Each week, the Washington Examiner brings to life the pages of its magazine with exclusive insight from the articles’ authors in the show Inside Scoop.

In this episode, magazine executive editor Jim Antle analyzes how the Los Angeles riots sealed the Democrats’ leftward lurch on immigration. Like “defund the police,” joining the anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement protests makes it seem as if Democrats oppose all immigration enforcement.

Democrats have decided to make criminals the poster children for their anti-ICE cause, throwing their advocacy behind Kilmar Abrego Garcia, an illegal immigrant from El Salvador as well as an alleged gang member and human trafficker, and Emiliano Garduno-Galvez, an arrested Los Angeles rioter alleged to have lit and tossed a Molotov cocktail at Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputies.

Antle also sits down with magazine managing editor David Mark. They discuss how, like other strongly Democratic areas of the United States, Vermont voters no longer align with socialist Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT).

“It’s not that Vermont is going to become the new Alabama anytime soon,” Mark said. “People are really concerned about tax increases. It’s expensive everywhere. Inflation is kicking up grocery prices. Also, property taxes are up, way too high. Social initiatives, like a drug rehabilitation center funded by the state, are put right in the middle of downtown Burlington, which is where all the businesses are, and where a lot of the tourists flock. And not surprisingly, it drove away a lot of businesses there.”

Mark believes Vermont could be a model for Republicans and minority parties everywhere. The state’s shift shows that moderates could block the more extreme leftist ideologies from being implemented in their state.

INSIDE SCOOP: TRUMP-MUSK BREAKUP, GAME OF DRONES, ARTIFICIAL FOOD DYE FIGHT

Our in-depth report this week features Daniel Ross Goodman’s article on how Trump’s White House has been an open door to evangelical Christians. Trump, the thrice-married, casino-building, reality TV star who once fumbled the pronunciation of “2 Corinthians,” has leaned hard into faith, transforming the White House into a beacon for Christians and a stage for a broader religious resurgence sweeping the U.S.
