Trump takes jab at Taylor Swift during Eagles’ White House visit

President Donald Trump reignited his feud with pop superstar Taylor Swift during a White House event on Monday honoring the Philadelphia EaglesSuper Bowl victory.

The Eagles defeated the Kansas City Chiefs 40-22 in New Orleans this February, in a game attended by both Trump and Swift, who was there to support her boyfriend, Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

During the game, Swift was loudly booed when she appeared on the jumbotron at Caesars Superdome in the first quarter, while Trump, who made history as the first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl, was reportedly cheered by fans.

“I was watching in person. I was there along with Taylor Swift — how did that work out? How did that one work out?” Trump remarked to laughter from the crowd gathered at the White House.

“The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift. She got BOOED out of the Stadium. MAGA is very unforgiving!” the president had said on social media following the game.

The tensions between the two figures took on new political weight during the 2024 election when Swift publicly endorsed Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris.

“Like many of you, I watched the debate tonight,” Swift wrote on Instagram in September. “I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election. I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them.”

Swift signed the post as “Childless Cat Lady,” a pointed response to mock Trump’s then-vice presidential running mate, JD Vance, for his comments about women without children, like herself.

While the event included a political undercurrent, not all celebrity appearances were contentious.

Eagles star running back Saquon Barkley, who had faced criticism after visiting Trump over the weekend at his Bedminster, New Jersey, golf club, arrived in Washington aboard Air Force One and then traveled to the White House via Marine One alongside the president.

“Some people are really upset ’cause I played golf and flew to the White House with the PRESIDENT,” Barkley wrote on X. “Maybe I just respect the office — not a hard concept to understand. Just golfed with Obama not too long ago… and look forward to finishing my round with Trump! Now y’all get out my mentions with all this politics and have an amazing day.”
