Trump to speak at University of Alabama and West Point graduations

.

President Donald Trump announced he will speak at the commencement ceremonies of the University of Alabama and the U.S. Military Academy this spring.

He gave the announcement via Truth Social late Monday night.

“I have agreed to do the Commencement Address at two really GREAT places, the University of Alabama and, WEST POINT. Stay tuned for times and dates!!!” Trump wrote.

The University of Alabama’s graduation ceremonies are scheduled for the weekend of May 2-4, and the commencement ceremony at West Point is scheduled for May 24.

Trump spoke at the West Point commencement ceremony in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The president most recently visited Tuscaloosa last September to attend the Alabama-Georgia football game. Sen. Katie Britt (R-AL) said she was “thrilled” Trump would be speaking at the University of Alabama.

“What a tremendous honor for my alma mater. Looking forward to a historic occasion for graduates and their families. Roll Tide!” she wrote.

It is not uncommon for presidents to speak at college graduation ceremonies. Former President Joe Biden spoke at West Point, Howard University, and Morehouse College while in office.
