Heckler tased after grabbing police officer at Marjorie Taylor Greene town hall

Multiple people disrupted a town hall by Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) on Tuesday night in Acworth, Georgia

Three hecklers were arrested, and two reportedly needed to be tased by local police officers. It was the latest town hall hosted by a Republican that experienced disruptions from the public.

Greene called for civil discourse before the event started. She told the attendees that heckling would not be tolerated and anyone who tried to shout and disrupt the event would be removed.

“If you’re planning to act up, scream, and protest, you’re going to be thrown out,” Greene said.

The disruptions began almost immediately, according to multiple reports. The first person to interrupt and heckle the congresswoman was ejected from the town hall.

After a second protester shouted at the congresswoman, she issued another warning not to interrupt the event.

“This is a town hall,” Greene said. “This is not a political rally. This is not a protest. If you end up wanting to protest, if you want to shout and chant, we will have you removed, just like that man was thrown out. We will not tolerate it.”

Videos circulating online and on social media show multiple incidents where protesters were removed from the town hall.

In the first video from the night’s discussion, multiple police officers are seen removing a man from the event.

“Stop,” a police officer can be heard requesting the protester.

“Are you really doing this?” he was heard saying on the video as multiple police officers forcibly took him outside the event. “Really?”

In a second video, another man interrupted the event, and the Republican congressman told him to leave. After saying something in return, the man was peacefully escorted out without physical contact.

In a third video, a man was seen in a physical confrontation with police, forcefully grabbing one police officer on his shirt by his neck at the beginning of the video. Later, as he was being removed from the town hall by multiple officers, another physical altercation ensued. During the scuffle, one police officer used his taser to subdue the man.

HOUSE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN CHIEF ADVISES MEMBERS TO AVOID IN-PERSON TOWN HALLS

Representatives from the Acworth Police Department said three people were arrested on Tuesday night. Two people faced charges for suspicion of simple battery and obstruction of police officers. The police department said that its officers were “threatened, physically resisted, and harmed in the process,” NBC News reported.

“Sadly, as soon as the Congresswoman began her presentation, several members of the audience became disruptive and created an imminent public safety threat for all in attendance,” the department said.

Greene addressed the incidents after the town hall with a social media post on X. She vowed she would not be intimidated.

“I’m not intimidated by the Democrats who tried to shut down my town hall tonight,” read the post. “I refused to tolerate their selfish attempts to disrupt an event that was for all of my constituents, not just the ones who could make the most noise. This is the type of business that should be handled at the voting booth.”
