Gov. Greg Abbott (R-TX) largely brushed off Rep. Jasmine Crockett’s (D-TX) new nickname for him, arguing this is just “another disaster” for the Democratic Party following the 2024 election.
Crockett deemed Abbott, 67, “Governor Hot Wheels” at a recent Human Rights Campaign banquet, drawing ire on social media as Abbott has used a wheelchair ever since an accident when he was 26. In response to Crockett, the governor said her comment further illustrates that her party has “nothing to sell but hate” to voters and that voters are not buying.
“It’s one reason why Texas is going to remain red and why Republicans are going to continue to win elections across the country,” Abbott said on Fox News’s Hannity. “The fact, Sean, is that Texas is actually in direct contrast to what she was talking about.”
Abbott then pointed to his state’s job growth in recent years and the many CEOs advocating Texas as a great state for business. He also claimed that Texas is at “the vanguard” of the United States’s future, as the state is paving the way for endeavors such as space exploration and artificial intelligence.
“The bottom line is that Republican states, like Texas, are leading the way, and with comments like this by Democrats, we will just leave them in the dust in future elections,” Abbott said.
Following her controversial remark, Crockett attempted to clarify that she was not thinking about the governor’s condition and instead was referring to his use of “planes, trains, and automobiles” to transfer migrants across the country. She also deemed the drama as “yet another distraction.”
I wasn’t thinking about the governor’s condition—I was thinking about the planes, trains, and automobiles he used to transfer migrants into communities led by Black mayors, deliberately stoking tension and fear among the most vulnerable.
Literally, the next line I said was that…

JASMINE CROCKETT CLAIMS TED CRUZ SHOULD BE ‘KNOCKED ON THE HEAD’ IN DEBATE
Rep. Randy Weber’s (R-TX) office confirmed to the Washington Examiner that the lawmaker is introducing a censure resolution against Crockett this week. A statement from Weber said that Crockett’s behavior is “a disgrace to everything Texas and the United States stands for.”
Over the weekend, Attorney General Pam Bondi warned Crockett to “tread very carefully” regarding her public comments about Tesla and Elon Musk. Crockett recently said she wants to see Musk “taken down” for her birthday. Bondi has also asked Crockett to “unequivocally denounce the violence” against Tesla, as a bomb squad was recently called to a Tesla dealership in Austin, Texas.
