Walz celebrates Tesla’s stock dropping: ‘Gives me a little boost’

.

Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) celebrated Tesla‘s declining stock while speaking to a Wisconsin crowd on Tuesday.

Walz was in the state for a campaign event on behalf of Wisconsin Supreme Court candidate Susan Crawford. The event was in Eau Claire, which is Rep. Derrick Van Orden’s (R-WI) district. The winner will determine a liberal or conservative majority in the state’s highest court.

Crawford is running against Brad Schimel, who received campaign donations from PACs funded by Tesla CEO Elon Musk. This connection, which became the main theme of Crawford’s recent campaign ad, prompted Walz to mention the company.

“Some of you know this: On the iPhone, they’ve got that little stock app. I added Tesla to it to give me a little boost during the day. 225 and dropping,” Walz said, referring to the company’s stock. “If you own one, we’re not blaming you. You can take dental floss and pull the Tesla thing off, you know, and take out — just telling you.”

Tesla stock has decreased by 40% over the last year to date. It peaked before President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January at over $428 per share.

Walz took questions at the town hall-style event. The governor told the crowd he was in the middle of “the most unsatisfying ‘I Told You So’ tour in the history of politics.”

Van Orden accused Walz of kicking Trump supporters out of his event on Crawford’s behalf. The Republican congressman has held his seat since 2022, but it is a highly contested seat and Van Orden was preceded by Democratic Rep. Ron Kind.

“I thought ‘everyone’ was welcome?” Van Orden wrote on X.

SEAN HANNITY AMONG LATEST STRING OF CELEBRITIES TO BUY TESLAS IN SOLIDARITY

Tesla cars and dealerships are facing mass acts of vandalism. The movement has resulted in some Tesla owners buying bumper stickers that disavow Musk to discourage vandals.

Celebrities like Sean Hannity and Rob Schneider followed President Donald Trump in publicly supporting Tesla. Trump and Hannity opted to buy their own Teslas to show support.
