The National Archives released thousands of documents on Tuesday related to the assassination of former President John F. Kennedy.
The release of the classified files was a campaign promise of President Donald Trump. One of the most famous assassinations in United States history has drawn nationwide interest for over 60 years, with many suspecting that the truth of the matter was being hidden.
“In accordance with President Donald Trump’s directive of March 17, 2025, all records previously withheld for classification that are part of the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection are released,” the National Archives said on its website.
The documents are available online or in person via hard copy or on analog media formats, at the National Archives at College Park, Maryland.
A cursory look at just a few of the documents shows they’re completely unredacted.

A conspiracy around the assassination of Kennedy is one of, if not the most widely believed conspiracy theories in the United States. A Gallup Poll found that nearly two-thirds of Americans believe that multiple gunmen were involved in the assassination, while just 29% believe the official story.
Popular conspiracy theories around the assassination have variously blamed the CIA, Lyndon B. Johnson, the Cuban government, the mafia, and the Soviet Union.
