President Donald Trump repeated a campaign refrain Wednesday when he called Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) a Palestinian.
The jab precedes the Senate vote on the federal budget passed in the House Tuesday. Seven Democrats will need to join every single Republican senator for it to pass and avoid a government shutdown within Trump’s first three months in office.
“Chuck Schumer is a Palestinian as far as I’m concerned,” Trump said. “He used to be Jewish. He’s not Jewish anymore. He’s a Palestinian.”
The last time Trump named-called the senate minority leader, Schumer simply said Trump was “unhinged” because he was dropping in the polls. At the time, former President Joe Biden was still campaigning for reelection.
MIKE WALTZ SAYS HAMAS IS ‘AFRAID’ OF TRUMP
The New York senator came to the defense of Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil. Khalil is a green card holder who made headlines for his participation in several protests on behalf of Hamas. While Schumer claimed to “abhor” Khalil’s opinions and policies, he accused the Trump administration of violating the First Amendment by ordering ICE to detain him.
Khalil stands accused of violating the Immigration and Naturalization Act by supporting a terrorist organization.
