Kaylee McGhee White calls on higher education to let DEI die

.

The Washington Examiner’s Restoring America Editor Kaylee McGhee White warned that the death of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives will be slow to die in U.S. universities.

Since President-elect Donald Trump swept the election three weeks ago, companies have quietly rolled back their policies to prioritize diversity in hiring and promotions. Instead, there is a return to merit-based procedures, saving companies millions of dollars in diversity training, which has yet to reach higher education.

“Of course, there is the other issue, which is that even if you get rid of DEI initiatives in some of these private companies and even at the federal government level, you still have not tackled the root of the issue which is higher education,” McGhee White explained on Fox News’s Fox & Friends First. “These ideas did not come from nowhere. They need to be torn out root and branch from our colleges and our universities, which, by the way, are also funded from our tax-paying dollars.”

However, when it comes to public opinion, the majority are against DEI programs.

“They want DEI dead. Sixty-six percent of Americans, including 54% of Democrats, said in a poll earlier this year that they do not want their companies making hiring decisions based on race or sex or some other immutable characteristic,” McGhee White said. “So all of these companies, higher education, everyone needs to get in line and fall into the will of the American people on this issue.”

Govs. Kevin Stitt (R-OK) and Ron DeSantis (R-FL) are two examples of state leaders who began shifting away from DEI initiatives long before Trump won the presidency. Florida teachers are prevented from the expensive diversity training, and state agencies aren’t obligated to hire based on DEI principles thanks to the recent efforts of these governors.
