Democrats turn back the clock on illegal immigration

.

You might expect a movement labeling itself as “progressive” to avoid using 19th-century, Confederate-style, and pro-slavery arguments to defend its positions. However, you would be underestimating the level of atrophy progressive minds have experienced in recent years due to the mere existence of President-elect Donald Trump

Brian Tyler Cohen, a progressive commentator and MSNBC contributor, posted the quiet part out loud Tuesday on X: “Would love to hear from a Republican worried about food or housing costs how exactly deporting 10 million people who grow and pick our food and build our houses is going to lower food or housing costs.”

Without the slightest hint of irony, Democrats are making the same foolish economic argument made by Jefferson Davis and the supporters of slavery in the mid-1800s. The fact that progressives are so drunk on their own destructive ideology that they don’t realize supplanting the word “cotton” with “food” fails to make their idiocy any less racist should be studied by psychiatrists for generations.

And don’t forget the Left’s double standards. All it took was a flight chartered by Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-Fl) that sent 49 illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard for the island’s near-exclusively Democratic population to turn against the so-called “migrants.” The island’s liberals promptly removed 45 illegal immigrants, generously allowing four to remain behind to tend to their gardens. Can you feel the joy

Aside from maybe abortion, allowing illegal immigrants to come to enter the United States unchecked is the top priority for Democrats, and you could argue that those two matters are at least tangentially connected. The Left is split between technocrats who want cheap labor, battle-hardened politicos who believe the Obama-era theory that “demographics are destiny” requires the hastening of the decline of the country’s white majority in order to help Democrats at the ballot box, and the true leftist believers who view the American experiment as a mistake and would see the country burn to relieve themselves of their Western guilt.

Knowing what is coming down the pike, Democrats are attempting to head off Trump and his push to end illegal immigration. In October, the Biden-Harris regime illegally closed the cases of 700,000 illegal immigrants, essentially giving them “quiet amnesty.” Democratic governors are encouraging illegal immigration, regardless of the destruction caused to their constituents’ communities. Gov. Gavin Newsom (D-CA) said he wants to “Trump-proof” California laws regarding the state’s sanctuary status for illegal immigrants. Gov. Maura Healey (D-MA) has said Massachusetts will not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement in deporting illegal immigrants, and Gov. J.B. Pritzker (D-IL) said about illegal immigrants, “You come for my people, you come through me,” a sentiment he has never uttered regarding the U.S. citizens living in the south side of Chicago.

Corporate media are doing their best to scare Americans, lamenting the “immigration hawks” being appointed to Trump’s incoming Cabinet. However, polls show that a majority of voters support Trump’s border policies, including mass deportations. Even policies on the fringes of the Trump doctrine regarding immigration are gaining support with the public: 46% of Republicans and 30% of Democrats oppose birthright citizenship, although it would likely take a constitutional amendment to change that policy.

Not only is opinion shifting rightward on illegal immigration, but the results of the 2024 election dealt a major blow to the hopes and dreams of Democrats who had convinced themselves that relegating white voters to a permanent minority would heal what ails the leftist ideology. Trump won 46% of Latino voters and won Hispanics outright in Texas, including Starr County on the southern border, which is 97% Hispanic, and voted for former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton by 60 points in 2016. Democrats had hoped that DeSantis winning Hispanics outright in Florida in his blowout 2022 reelection bid was a one-off, but Trump’s performance among Latinos confirmed that the tide is turning against the Left’s stranglehold on minority communities.

It is as foolhardy as it is bigoted for the Democratic Party to assume that minorities hold their racial identity above their desire for peace, prosperity, and the American dream. I doubt rehashing pre-Civil War arguments will do them any favors, but these are the Democrats we’re talking about. It’s in their nature.
