Democrats need to start ‘paying attention’ to Trump supporters: Kaylee McGhee White

The Washington Examiner’s Kaylee McGhee White argued the 2024 election offers an opportunity for reflection for the Democratic Party, suggesting it needs to “pay attention” to the voters.

White assessed that Trump’s victory in the 2024 election cycle comes after the “third consecutive polling miss” in a presidential election for the former president, and suggested that Trump’s victory this time was “predictable from the very start.” She added that one of the reasons the Democratic Party has failed to win this election was because it never took the time to understand “the average Trump voter.”

“They cannot wrap their heads around why so many people support him, and for a long time, actually for the past decade or so, Democrats in power didn’t think they needed to,” White said on Fox News’s Democracy 2024 election night coverage. “And even worse, they didn’t want to. They didn’t want to have to stoop down to understand the concerns over immigration over the economy. And guess what? The American people sent a very clear message tonight that you better start paying attention and you better start paying attention soon.”

Trump’s victory was all but guaranteed once he won Pennsylvania in the Electoral College, which requires presidential candidates to get 270 electoral votes to win the presidency.

The campaign then directed attendees of its election watch party to go home.

Trump has already been congratulated by several world leaders for his victory, including Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and El Salvador President Nayib Bukele.
