Tulsi Gabbard slams Harris for refusing to ‘own up’ to past in Fox interview

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard responded to Kamala Harris dodging a question about her LGBT policies for prison inmates and illegal immigrants.

Harris is less than three weeks away from facing off against former President Donald Trump on Election Day. Following her debate against Trump in September, Harris reversed course on her media strategy and began appearing on many programs, most recently Fox News, where she was made to answer for her past three years in office.

Anchor Brett Baier asked Harris about her stance regarding transgender surgeries performed for convicts in prison and illegal immigrants. Gabbard called out Harris for not owning up to her past policies and instead avoiding the question.

“It’s one of the many examples of how Kamala Harris is lying to the American people and assuming that we’re so stupid as just to believe her lies,” Gabbard said on Fox News’s Fox & Friends. “We’ve seen the sound bites in the clips of her when she was advocating and patting herself on the back for the law changes that she brought about that would do this very thing, that would make sure that U.S. taxpayers are covering transgender surgeries for inmates. She advocated for the same for illegal immigrants coming across our border.”

According to Gabbard, this is a campaign tactic that Harris is employing to win the presidential office. As vice president, Harris often pandered to the LGBT community; she was the first in her office to invite a drag queen to her residence. Harris went on to appear on the reality competition show RuPaul’s Drag Race.

“She refuses to take responsibility and own up to her positions. If her views have changed, fine, people can change,” Gabbard went on. “But the American people deserve the respect enough to know exactly why she has changed. In that interview with Bret, there are a number of examples where she is lying about her past positions in order to try to create this new version of herself that she thinks will be more palatable to voters, and it’s it’s, it’s offensive in my view.”

Gabbard endorsed Trump earlier this election cycle. When she was in office, Gabbard was a Democratic politician but has since left the party, citing extreme “wokeness.”

Now, Trump is teasing Gabbard will join his Cabinet in some capacity. The former representative has said she is open to serving the administration should Trump win in November.
