Are United Nations ‘peacekeepers’ the most useless people on Earth?

.

If you are ranking global organizations based on how useless they are, the top 10 may be made up of United Nations departments. U.N. “peacekeepers” in Lebanon may sit at the top of the list.

Unsurprisingly, the U.N. is picking another fight with Israel, this time over Israel’s ground invasion of Lebanon, which has housed the terrorist group Hezbollah. In July, Hezbollah killed 12 children in a missile strike, and the terrorist group has launched thousands upon thousands of missiles into Israel going back decades. As a result of this, Israel has systematically eliminated Hezbollah’s leaders and is now launching a ground invasion to neutralize the group’s ability to attack Israeli civilians.

As part of this, Israel is demanding that United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon peacekeepers vacate southern Lebanon so Israel can operate without them being in the crossfire. The U.N. is throwing a tantrum over this demand and over the fact that UNIFIL peacekeepers are now caught in the crossfire because they did not vacate the area.

If only someone had given them a warning.

The U.N. and UNIFIL have been far less irritated with Hezbollah’s constant assault on Israel, which has included some 8,000 missiles launched from Lebanon into Israel since Oct. 7 last year. UNIFIL, whose job is to observe the Israel-Lebanon border, has not done much to help “keep the peace.” Instead, UNIFIL is in the way and complaining about that fact, acting as if the U.N. should be above reality even as we know the U.N. is not. In fact, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency in Gaza has housed, and even helped, Hamas terrorist operations while similarly complaining about being caught in the middle of a conflict in which Israel is defending itself from terrorists. You could make a similar case that UNIFIL is helping Hezbollah, unwittingly or not.

It cannot even be offered that all of this with UNIFIL is worth it because UNIFIL’s observations are reported to the U.N., the very antisemitic, terrorist-sympathizing body that has helped perpetuate this conflict in the first place with its anti-Israel stance and its Hamas and Hezbollah apologia. So, if UNIFIL isn’t keeping the peace as Hezbollah launches thousands of rockets and isn’t going to do anything but report to the antisemitic U.N., what exactly is the point of all of this?

The U.N. is useless, and UNIFIL is no different. We have enough antisemites who complain about everything Israel does in response to the genocidal terrorists trying to wipe it off of the map. We don’t need any more of them backed by the holier-than-thou attitude of the U.N.
