Former President Donald Trump joked about former President Barack Obama‘s efforts to get black men to vote for Vice President Kamala Harris, with the demographic appearing to have low enthusiasm for supporting her.
Obama, speaking at a Harris campaign office in Pittsburgh on Thursday, called the low energy for Harris from black male voters “not acceptable.” Trump joked on Friday that Obama’s admission of low enthusiasm from black men for Harris may mean that Obama is actually supporting him.
“Obama admits a total lack of enthusiasm for Kamala, especially with Black Men. I think Obama will be voting for me because he doesn’t like the fact that Kamala is an extremely Low IQ Person!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Shortly after that post, Trump made a pitch to minority voters in a subsequent post that said, “Kamala’s Border Invasion is killing the jobs of our Black and Hispanic populations.”
A Harris campaign ally responded to Trump’s post about Obama to the Washington Examiner by simply saying, “LMAO.”
If elected, Harris would be the first black woman president after Obama was elected the first black president in 2008. Obama has endorsed Harris and made the case for her in the Keystone State on Thursday, specifically tailoring his message to hesitant black men.

“You’re thinking about sitting out or supporting somebody who has a history of denigrating you because you think that’s a sign of strength, because that’s what being a man is? Putting women down?” Obama said. “That’s not acceptable.”
While minority voters, including black men, are expected to support Harris heavily in the November election, polls have shown that Trump has made some inroads with various groups that are traditionally heavily Democratic. In 2020, President Joe Biden won black male voters, 79%-19%, over Trump, according to a CNN exit poll.
