Bank of America down: Customers report zeroed-out accounts and outages

.

Bank of America appears to have experienced a widespread outage, with customers reporting accounts with improper balances of $0.

Outage spotter Downdetector reported a spike in outage reports from Bank of America at around 12:45 p.m., quickly skyrocketing to over 20,000 within a half-hour. An equally sharp decline in outages was detected shortly after that, though they still numbered in the thousands.

Customers reported that the balances displayed on their accounts suddenly changed to $0, prompting concern. Others were unable to access the app or website altogether.

Some users on social media reported that customer service was not working either.

“There’s some kind of glitch on the @BankofAmerica website that shows $0 in all accounts and honestly i think they owe everybody some cash for pain and suffering because that was extremely stressful for a second there,” former Hard Drive editor Andy Holt wrote.
