Democrats accuse Jill Stein of ‘working hand in hand with’ GOP to hurt Harris

.

Democrats slammed Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein for denying that she is coordinating with Republican operatives ahead of the 2024 general election next month.

Recent reports indicate that Republicans have supported Stein’s attempts to gain ballot access in hopes she will play spoiler for Vice President Kamala Harris. The matter could play a major role in deciding the election in both Michigan and Wisconsin, two battleground states with relatively high Muslim- and Arab-American populations.

Stein herself denied the claims during a Monday interview with Newsweek and claimed not to be receiving any support from Republicans or allies of former President Donald Trump.

“I’m not preparing myself to be considered a spoiler because I reject the notion. Democracy is about political choices,” Stein said, adding that Democrats must take a more aggressive stance against Israel’s offensive in the Middle East if they want to earn left-wing votes. “This is what they do. Every election is the most important election of our lifetimes.”

Democratic National Committee spokeswoman Adrienne Watson, in turn, outright accused Stein of lying about reported Republican efforts to assist her campaign.

“Once again, Jill Stein isn’t telling the truth. But the facts don’t lie. Stein is working hand in hand with Republican consultants and even Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer,” Watson said in a statement. “It’s clear that Republicans are elevating Stein in an attempt to help Trump win. This will be a close election and the only way to stop Donald Trump is by voting for Vice President Harris.”

Watson also circulated a memo to reporters Tuesday morning citing various outlets that highlighted former Trump attorney Jay Sekulow’s role in representing the Green Party in Stein’s Nevada ballot access challenge.

The memo also pointed to Republican efforts to assist Stein with signature gathering in Pennsylvania and Wisconsin, in addition to recent comments Trump has made about third-party candidates this cycle.

“Cornel West, he’s one of my favorite candidates. Cornel West and I like her also, Jill Stein, I like her very much,” the former president said in June to a crowd in Philadelphia. “You know why? She takes 100% from them. He takes 100%.”
