Trump assassination attempt suspect’s son arrested on charges of child sexual abuse material

The son of the suspect in the latest attempt on former President Donald Trump’s life, Ryan Routh, has been arrested on charges of possessing child sexual abuse material, according to a report.

Oran Routh’s home was searched Saturday by the FBI during an investigation into the Trump assassination attempt, during which federal agents discovered “hundreds” of files of child sexual abuse material, according to ABC News.

Ryan Routh has been charged with possession of a firearm as a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number after an incident that occurred at the Trump International Golf Club in an apparent assassination attempt on the Republican presidential candidate.

“This was an assassination attempt on Donald Trump but I failed you. I tried my best and gave it all the gumption I could muster,” Ryan Routh reportedly said in a letter.

Ryan Routh has yet to be charged with attempting an assassination, a charge prosecutors are currently seeking.

Oran Routh has been charged with receipt of child sexual abuse material and possession of said material after agents discovered a Galaxy Note device in his bedroom, according to the report, and will appear in court later Tuesday.
