Biden to appear on The View for live, in-studio interview

President Joe Biden is scheduled to be in New York on Wednesday for a live, in-studio appearance on ABC’s The View.

“I have a historic announcement,” co-host Whoopi Goldberg said on Monday’s show. “This Wednesday, we are honored to have the sitting president of the United States. Joe Biden will be live on The View.”

“Because let us not forget he is still president of the United States of America,” she added as a reminder to the audience.

Biden will discuss his legacy, accomplishments, plans for his remaining time in office, and his thoughts on the 2024 election.

The president will travel to New York on Monday night and will deliver remarks Tuesday before the United Nations General Assembly. He will also deliver speeches at the Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats and the Bloomberg Global Business Forum. Following his appearance on The View, he will host a reception alongside first lady Jill Biden at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

The first lady previously made a May 29 appearance on the show, during which she defended her husband’s poor polling numbers and predicted that they would “turn” for him in his presidential bid. Biden ended up withdrawing from the election in July after a poor presidential debate performance against former President Donald Trump and pressure from influential donors, Hollywood elite, and powerful Democratic politicians.

Biden’s television interview comes after an incident on Saturday when he appeared to become lost and confused about what he was supposed to do at the podium while introducing Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at an event in Wilmington, Delaware.

“I want to thank you all for being here,” Biden said. “Now, who am I introducing next?”

The president then shouted, “Who’s next?” before an announcer was overheard intervening to introduce Modi, who graciously came up to Biden and shook his hand.

The president will return to the White House on Wednesday evening to participate in a bilateral meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
