Vance notes Harris staff turnover rate as another reason she’s not fit to be president

Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH) cited the high level of staff turnover with Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign as an indication of incompetence and one of several reasons she should not enter the White House come 2025.

As former President Donald Trump’s running mate, Vance sat down with media personality Tucker Carlson to discuss the 2024 race. They discussed how Harris’s staff turnover, which is at 92%, is much higher than the average turnover rate of campaign staff. The Ohio senator added that this raises serious questions about who Harris would have at her side if a war were to break out.

“If you’re such an incompetent person that 92% of your staff doesn’t want to work for you, maybe we shouldn’t elect that person as president,” Vance said on the Tucker Carlson Network. “Or you watch Kamala Harris give an interview. I mean, this is not a person who has very well-developed views about what she wants to do in the world. She’s fundamentally a cog in a wheel of a very corrupt machine; that scares the hell out of me when that person goes to negotiate with a world leader about a hot war.”

Vance also previewed the biggest challenge he and Trump face in their administration, predicting “the real fight” will begin when the two try to enact change in the White House rather than on the campaign trail. One policy that could hit a snag, Vance explained, is enacting Trump’s mass deportations that he has campaigned on, with the Ohio senator arguing many would deem it “fascism in America” and attempt to stop this.

The other major issue in a hypothetical second Trump presidency is bond markets. He expressed concern that international investors and companies that have profited off of shipping their work overseas could spike bond rates. Vance said he has spoken with Trump about who he can choose as treasury secretary in their administration and that this ought to be someone who can get the United States’s finances “back on track” amid a crisis.

“I think that’s probably the most important and the most impactful way they could try to take down this presidency is by spiking the interest rate,” Vance said.
