Former championship swimmer-turned-women’s sports advocate Riley Gaines said the Biden administration’s proposed changes to Title IX will take away female athletes’ right to safety and respect.

“We are asking for the bare minimum,” Gaines said on Fox & Friends. “As women, we deserve safety. We deserve privacy. We deserve equal opportunity. And we deserve respect.”

“They’re trying to take that away,” she continued, referencing President Joe Biden’s proposed Title IX changes that would make it a violation to ban transgender athletes from participating in sporting competitions based on their identified gender. “It’s detrimental to women’s sports. The integrity of women’s sports will be completely lost if this goes through. It’s harmful. I can’t even put into words the damage this will do.”

On Tuesday, Gaines testified before the House Homeland Security Committee in its “Hearing On Left-Wing Violence” about threats she has faced while speaking out against biological males who identify as transgender females participating in women’s athletics.

Gaines said she will also stand alongside other Republican leaders in support of a “Women’s Bill of Rights” that seeks to define the word woman.

“It defines the word woman as an adult human female, which it blows my mind we even have to have this as a law,” Gaines said.
