Allies of former Vice President Mike Pence are launching a new super PAC to bolster his expected bid for the 2024 Republican nomination for president.

Former Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) and veteran Republican strategist Scott Reed will co-chair the super PAC, called the Committed to America PAC, per Politico. The group will reportedly be publicly launching on Tuesday.

“The country’s at real crossroads and the Republican Party needs a strong conservative candidate who can win,” Reed said, according to the Associated Press. “Pence has the experience, the unparalleled character, communication skills and the conservative credentials to win both the nomination and a general election.”

Bobby Saparow, Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp’s (R) former campaign manager, will reportedly run the group, while Hensarling is a longtime friend of Pence and previously served with him in the House of Representatives.

The super PAC’s launch stands as the clearest sign that the former vice president and Indiana governor will make a run for president. If he does, he will face a bevy of adversaries, headlined by his former running mate and boss, former President Donald Trump.

In addition to Trump declaring for the Republican nomination, former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy, and former Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson are also in the running. South Carolina Sen. Tim Scott has formed a presidential exploratory committee and will reportedly formally launch his campaign next week.

If Pence were to declare, it may not even make him the biggest Republican rival to the former president. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has become a star in the Republican Party with his loud “anti-woke” efforts and anti-immigration policies. DeSantis is expected to announce his intentions sometime this month.

The Committed to America PAC is likely betting on the belief that while Trump has a collection of die-hard supporters ever-loyal to his cause, much of the Republican Party and general populace want a more traditional and less controversial conservative as their candidate.
