WVU coach to be hit with $1 million salary cut and suspension for anti-gay slur: Report

West Virginia University men’s basketball head coach Bob Huggins is expected to be hit with a $1 million salary cut and a suspension following his use of an anti-gay slur Monday.
Huggins used the derogatory remark while on Cincinnati-based radio program The Bill Cunningham Show on 700 WLW after he was asked about Xavier University.

“I tell you what, any school that can throw rubber penises on the floor and then say they didn’t do it, my God, they can get away with anything,” Huggins, the longtime coach at the University of Cincinnati, said, referring to an apparent action by Xavier fans.
“I think it was ‘transgender night,’ wasn’t it?” Cunningham said.
“It was the Crosstown Shootout. What it was, was all those f***, those Catholic f***, I think.”
Shortly after the remark, Huggins was bombarded with criticism and calls for his ousting.

Both Huggins and WVU athletics released statements related to the coach and his sincerest apologies, and ESPN reported Wednesday that Huggins and WVU are closing in on an agreement for him to resume his position as coach next season.
Along with the significant pay cut and suspension, ESPN reported that Huggins is anticipated to be subjected to sensitivity training.
