Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley called Vice President Kamala Harris one of the “most incompetent elected officials” in the nation, saying that Harris’s failures are “too numerous to mention.”

Haley made the declaration in an opinion piece published by Fox News on Monday, citing Harris’s record on foreign policy and the southern border while discussing President Joe Biden’s mental capacity.

“This uncertainly about Biden’s mental competence means Americans must consider the actual competency of the vice president. Kamala Harris is one of the most incompetent elected officials in the country. Her failures in foreign policy and managing the border are too numerous to mention – to say nothing of the word salad that defines her unscripted remarks,” Haley wrote in the outlet.

The former South Carolina governor also said that because of Biden’s age, voters in 2024 will have to decide whether they will be content with Harris potentially serving as president, despite being the vice presidential candidate on the ticket.

Haley pushed again for her belief that politicians over the age of 75 should take a mental competency tests and publish the results to the public. She cited the Montreal Cognitive Assessment Test as the examination older politicians should take and clarified that it should be politicians’ obligation to take the test but it should not be a qualification for office.

“This is not a qualification for office. Failing a mental competency test would not result in removal. It is about transparency. Voters deserve to know whether those who are making major decisions about war and peace, taxation and budgets, schools and safety, can pass a very basic mental exam,” Haley said in the piece.

The former ambassador to the United Nations cited Biden and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) as examples of why competency tests should be required of politicians over the age of 75.

Feinstein, 89, has been away from the Senate since February, after she was hospitalized with Shingles. She has been released from the hospital but has given a clear timetable for her return to the Senate, prompting some Democrats to call for her resignation.

Haley has been calling for mental competency tests for politicians over 75 years old since she launched her presidential campaign in February. Of the declared candidates, Biden, 80, and former President Donald Trump, 76, would be in the age range requiring an examination.
