A Louisiana high school student has reportedly shattered records after raking in roughly $9 million worth of scholarship funds from 125 schools.

Dennis Barnes, a student at the International High School of New Orleans, said he applied to more than 200 colleges and universities throughout the United States, according to a report.

At least 125 schools have admitted Barnes, and letters continue to come in the mail.

The scholarship haul is believed by many to have set a new record, beating the sum total of the previous holder, a Lafayette, Louisiana, student who earned approximately $8.7 million in 2019, the report noted.

Officials at Barnes’s school are collaborating with Guinness to confirm the new record.

Barnes, who is slated to graduate on May 24, wants to earn $10 million in scholarship awards by the end of April and will announce his college plans on May 2, he said.

A National Honor Society member, Barnes holds a 4.98 GPA and is fluent in Spanish, according to the report.
