Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) is set to give a press conference as he rounds the corner of 100 days as speaker of the House.
The speaker has had a hard time freeing himself from the memory of his tumultuous election process that saw 15 rounds of voting and stonewalling from hard-right members of the House. After many concessions that are still playing out, the speaker won his position.

McCarthy’s House has seen modernized motivation from a Republican base. The addition of the House weaponization subcommittee and the ascension of Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) have characterized this session’s Congress.
Greene was a serious holdout when the vote for the speakership was underway, and the perks she got in exchange for her vote have put her in the spotlight on many occasions recently.

Earlier Monday, McCarthy proposed raising the national debt limit. The one-year increase would be paired with spending cuts and policy changes, according to the New York Times.
