Kari Lake claims 2024 candidates who do not believe her election was stolen is ‘a big red flag’

Former GOP Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake has argued it is a “big red flag” if any 2024 Republican presidential candidate does not believe her 2022 contest was stolen from her.
“I ask you that every candidate who comes through — when they stand on this stage, when they’re shaking your hand, when they’re walking through town, taking your questions — that you ask them where they stand on election integrity,” Lake said at a GOP event in Nevada, Iowa on Thursday, according to the Hill. “And I think you should get even more specific, ‘Was the 2022 election for governor in Arizona stolen?’ And if they won’t say ‘Absolutely, yes,’ that’s a big red flag. That’s a big red flag. Ask all of them.”

Lake then encouraged Republican voters to ask every GOP candidate about her election, including former President Donald Trump, former South Carolina Gov. and United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, and entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy.
Lake’s demand for conservative voters comes roughly five months after she lost the Arizona state election to current Gov. Katie Hobbs (D), with Lake trying to overturn the results of the election since then. In March, the Arizona Supreme Court declined to hear the majority of Kari Lake’s appeal of the 2022 governor’s race but did revive a claim that a trial court had previously dismissed.

During her appearance at the GOP event on Thursday, Lake also encouraged Republican voters to ask Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis if her election was stolen, despite the fact he has yet to announce his candidacy in the 2024 presidential election. Lake’s comment on DeSantis comes a month after she suggested DeSantis, who is seen by many in the GOP as Trump’s biggest challenger to the 2024 nomination, should wait on running for president, saying that 2024 is “President Trump’s turn.”
Lake is one of several people who are seen as contenders to serve as Trump’s vice presidential candidate in the 2024 election, along with Gov. Kristi Noem (R-SD) and Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY). During a campaign rally in Florida in March, Trump told his supporters that “a lot of people are right now auditioning” to be his vice president.
