Two killed in plane crash off Florida coast; more victims expected

Two people are dead, and more victims are expected after a small plane crashed off Florida’s Gulf Coast Wednesday night.
Authorities said the bodies of two men in their 50s or 60s were recovered, and investigators believe there were more passengers on board the small aircraft. Venice Fire Rescue said the crash occurred at about 9:30 p.m., about a half mile from the Venice Fishing Pier.

Investigators said the plane went down shortly after departing from Venice Municipal Airport. The Venice police captain believes there were more passengers on board the small aircraft, per WTSP.
“Marine units are searching the area for any other possible victims,” the City of Venice, Florida, announced Wednesday.
Divers are expected to search the water Thursday morning.
